Yipeee! I've finished my scrappy trip around the world quilt! I'm so super proud of this and love how it's turned out :) I don't think I would have made this is it wasn't part of a quilt-a-long because it's so scrappy and random! It was quite a step out of my comfort zone :) so I thank the quilting community for all joining in the adventure which helped motivate me to complete it!
It's the biggest quilt I've made so far! and my first one to have pride of place in our bedroom. We have an all white bedroom, so it brings a much needed rainbow of colour :) When I was piecing the quilt top with such multicolored fabrics I knew exactly what backing I would choose to compliment it ...
... Pam Kitty Love's multicolour dots of course! It's so busy on the front I didn't want to overwhelm it with something crazy on the back, so I think it's kinda' perfect :) I also used a coordinating Pam Kitty floral print for the binding too, again something subtle.
It's quilted in a simple fashion, straight stitched along every other row - someday I will get more adventurous with my quilting and learn some new techniques. It's actually on my to do list this year! How are your scrappy trips quilts going? Did you join in? If not I would highly recommend it! Jessie, xo

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite, if not the favorite that I've seen of this pattern. The colors harmonize very well and it doesn't feel overwhelming. It would be perfect in a white room! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love it. It's one of my favourite I've seen, The colours don't hurt my eyes, like some do. I love the PKM backing, her fabrics are just gorgeous. I also love your bed!! Is it an antique cast iron and brass bed?

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, I've got as far as my quilt top, it's my first quilt and want to get on with quilting this weekend. I always love your fabric choices, once I've worked through my stash a bit I'll be visiting your shop for sure.
ReplyDeleteOne word....WOW!!! :) x
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a new challenge for me as well, not being super matchy with my fabrics. But it's already opened up possibilities for me, and I feel like I can finally confidently dive into my stash and not rely on using fabrics from one line to make a quilt.
I'm am totally bowled over by your quilt, it's the perfect combination of fabrics sooo very pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love the colors. I did not join the quilt along because I broke my wrist in December. But I made copies of the Bonnie's instructions and it just might be the first quilt I make when I get back to sewing. I'm thinking of using my 30's fabrics.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! It looks perfect on the white & gold frame bed.
ReplyDeleteFabulous scrappy trip - love the colours

ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I've just finished my very first quilt - obviously it's a lot more basic than this one. But you've given me something to aspire to!
ReplyDeleteHi Jesse! I've just recently found your blog and have fallen head over heels for this quilt! I really want to make one just like it. Can you tell me what size your squares and blocks are? It looks to me like your blocks are 6 squares by 6 squares but that's all I've figured out. Thanks so much!
