Hello! My name is Jessie Fincham, welcome to my blog Messy Jesse

As you can tell I love to sew! It's such an important part of my life. I have always enjoyed being creative for as long as I can remember, but developed more of a passion for sewing in my late teens and started this blog back in 2009 as a place to document my progress, having been introduced to the wonderful world of blogging after doing a university internship at a trend forecasting company - what a revelation it was in those early days! I dabbled in patchwork and quilting though the years, though I started my first official quilt in 2011 and haven't stopped since! So this blog really has documented my hobby from beginner to where I am today. 'Messy Jesse' comes from my childhood nickname by my parents and somehow it landed on this blog and my Instagram name (@messyjesse1)!

In October 2012 I setup an online patchwork and quilting shop called Sew and Quilt after a short stint in London with a 'proper job'. I struggled to find work in my rural hometown so I made myself a job! It truly started on the kitchen table with just a few bolts of fabric and a dream. I had two part-time jobs and worked hard to juggle it all. Once I finally decided to make the leap full-time in 2015 things really took off the following year. It has grown tremendously over the years and never in my wildest dreams did I think I could achieve what it is today. I operate the business with my husband Robin, and we have evolved into English Paper Piecing specialists! We manufacture a huge range of paper templates which we produce in-house from our lovely workshop premises in Cornwall, England. Not to mention the tempting range of quilting fabrics, Liberty lawns, tools, patterns and exclusive S&Q products for quilters everywhere.

I live in south-west Cornwall, England. When I'm not working or sewing, I love doing DIY projects and home improvement projects. My other passion is collecting some antique or vintage treasures - whether that be a new piece of antique pine furniture (can't go wrong in my book) or embroidered tablecloth I'm happy! I go crazy for the summer car-boot fayre's and try to check out my local auction as often as I can.

I love to go out jogging, my favourite food is honey on toast, yum... bread! I love gingham in every form, scallop detailing on everything, shopping designer clothes in end of season sales and I love nothing more than a weekend in my sewing room watching an old series of Modern Family or Veep on repeat. That's pretty much me in a nutshell!

Thanks for stopping by ~ Jessie
