Hi folks! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and gearing up for more celebrations to ring in the new year. I spent my Christmas away from my parents and siblings for the first time, ever! Instead I spent it with my soon to be in-laws - and my nana on Boxing day, which brings me to my first finished Christmas gift to share with you all! Yay! The maple leaf quilt is finally finished and was well received by nana :)
I backed the quilt in a lovely vintage sheet I recently purchased that was destined to be the perfect backing :) It's a nice throw size, with a total of 20 blocks and some simple solid blue corner stones to let the printed fabrics shine. I really had to raid my blue stash to make this, luckily I just had enough to have a different print for each maple leaf ;) I went with my favourite binding choice of the moment, a great little checkered print by Darleene Zimmerman, so versatile!
Hope you like it! I'll be back soon to share more of my Christmas makes, and crafty gifts to me! Jessie, xo

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic thoughtful present. You can tell it's made with lots of care and love. MY nans are no longer with us but my nan made me some beautiful wall hangings which I cherish everyday.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! And I see some PKM in there!!

I really like this quilt. I love the Pam Kitty Morning fabric. I have a fat quarter pack of it waiting to be used! Since I saw this quilt of yours I have decided I will make it for my cousin and his wife, who is Canadian, (we are Australian) in reds when they have their first child. I think it will be a lovely gift for Kristen, representing her Australian family and Canadian background.

I love that you used blues for the maple leaf. Very refreshing!
ReplyDeleteOk, Miss Messy Jessy. Can I just say that - as a Canadian - that is THE most beautiful rendition of a maple leaf quilt I have ever seen! I think it looks even better than a pink version I've had dancing around in my head for years. So pretty. :) Happy New Year! xo k
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I bet your Nana was thrilled with it. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, it is the vintage sheet that finally prompted me to leave a comment... such a dreamy one and I was so happy to find exactly the same one in a local charity shop last year! I felt generous enough to use just a little for a child's dress but am saving the rest for me! Can I really walk around dressed in an old bed sheet? And such a lovely quilt...
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! Its so fresh and soft and pretty. Just beautiful. I love it!
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous quilt! I love the colors so much.
