Hopefully, there's a Sizzix machine in my future...but, for now I'm going to try your rotary cutting method....and of course the glue stick too :) I try to always remember to punch that little hole in the middle of my templates since that REALLY helps remove the papers - especially since I baste through the them. Thanks for all the great photos & info.<br />Smiles, DianeM :)DianeMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00399920366452851491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315870177659729706.post-46776769070931286252014-07-29T08:56:44.944+01:002014-07-29T08:56:44.944+01:00It's great to see tutorials from another lefti...It's great to see tutorials from another leftie!! I teach some quilt classes and the biggest problem I have is showing people how to rotary cut the 'right' way round! I would be interested to know how you decide on the pattern of your quilt or is it something that just naturally takes shape as you go along? Also, are there any pattern sites you would recommend? Thank you!Caroline https://www.blogger.com/profile/11969183069305141072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315870177659729706.post-75395958968186150802014-07-29T08:27:53.468+01:002014-07-29T08:27:53.468+01:00I am not normally a quilter, my true love is dress...I am not normally a quilter, my true love is dressmaking, but I have so many cotton scraps that I decided to start a GMG quilt and I'm loving how it's turning out. I sew the hexes as you do and have never heard of the glue pen method. I might try that now. I sew mine the same way you do (it's how the lovely lady in the quilting shop showed me) but I hold the first side down with a tiny bulldog clip when I start. I don't cut mine with a rotary cutter, just scissors (means I can do it on the couch!) and I've tried the corners only basting and hated it, it seems much more secure to sew through the paper for me. I have recently tried glue basting though and I LOVE it! So simple and fast :)Lucy | Charm About Youhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14802874219199570853noreply@blogger.com
